Doug and I have been looking for our wedding rings knowing that we have to order something soon for it to come in time. I have been back and forth on whether I wanted a wedding band or not. I love my engagement ring and I know that more often than not, I will wear it which means I will constantly be wearing two rings. I've never been a fan of the idea of wearing two rings together and neither is Doug. Friends have told me they twist around and get wet when you wash your hands between and can be kind of a pain. So I have gone back and forth with just having my diamond set into another band and just having one ring. So I found a ring I absolutely fell in love with and Doug was so sweet and told me that I could get it. We ended up at Darakjian in Southfield. They have been in business for 45 years and they are fantastic! Doug and I tend to not get much attention from people when we walk into a jewelry store and the people there went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We never felt rushed or that we were being an inconvenience which is a vibe we got from a number of other stores like Tappers or Tiffanys (not like we would ever buy anything from there anyways). Or even the shady sort of hustler vibe we got from Metals in Time in Royal Oak. We would tell them the price of a ring and they would just pull some arbitrary number from out of the sky as to how much they could get it for. The guy who helped us even made a weird comment when we were looking at rings telling Doug that he could easily find a ring that was way more expensive than the one I wanted for me to buy... which rubbed me the wrong way. Who says something like that. It didn't come across as a very funny joke, just a jerk thing to say. So anyways, we ordered the ring on Friday and got nothing but wonderful service at Darakjian. I am SO excited and absolutely love it. I will likely pick up some super cheap metal band to wear if I snowboard or we are out doing something active where wearing my ring would be a bad idea. I am also planning to put a colored stone in the original solitaire engagement band so I can still wear it out.
